Getting started
04What is the GTA V iOS project?
A native arm64 port of GTA V, with D3D11 running on Metal through DXMT. It is not x86 emulation or the web build. Read the engineering notes
Where do I download the latest build?
Find the current IPA and release instructions in our Discord server. Match the download to the build date and read the update steps before installing. Open Discord
Do I need my own game files?
Yes. Use game files from a copy you own and follow the data requirements for the build you install. This website does not host the game data. Read the installation guide
Is this an official Rockstar Games project?
No. This is an independent community project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, or Apple. Rockstar Games created the original game. View project credits
Devices & performance
06Which iPhone chips and RAM are required?
The engineering notes describe an A12-family chip and at least 4 GB of RAM. A12 support is experimental in the 24 October evening and 25 October releases. Begin with Battery Saver on 4 GB devices. Check the requirements for the exact build you install. Read the hardware notes
Which iOS version do I need?
The 17 October release introduced iOS 16.3+ support. iOS 16, iOS 17, and iPhone 11 were still untested in those release notes. Check later build instructions and reported issues before installing. Read the release notes
Can I use an Android device?
Android is not supported by this project. You can still explore the website and join the Discord community.
Does the project support iPad or Mac?
The engineering notes report working iPad support. The 25 October update also provides a first Mac test for Apple silicon M1 or later on macOS 14+. Use the Mac archive and its README rather than the iOS IPA. View platform details
Why does the checker show Critical on a 4 GB iPhone?
The checker uses a conservative 6 GB planning guideline, not a verified release minimum. A Critical label highlights limited memory headroom. Installed RAM is different from the memory iOS actually allows the signed app to use. Review your device profile
Does the compatibility page test my actual phone?
No. The device profile comes from your welcome answers. You can enter iOS and free-storage details yourself. The page compares these against planning guidelines. It does not scan physical hardware, run a benchmark, or certify that a build will work.
Installation & updates
05How do I install or update the IPA?
Sign and install the IPA using the instructions for your build. Preserve the requested entitlements and review any data setup steps. Release notes say existing game data and saves remain when updating; keep a backup before reinstalling or changing signing methods. Open the installation guide
Do I need GTAV_patch every time I update?
No. The 18 October patch is a one-time setup for the matching data. Put GTAV_patch alongside GTAV in On My iPhone › GTA V. The next launch applies and removes it. If you already completed that setup, later notes say not to copy it again. Read the full patch instructions
What if the patch says my data does not match?
The patch expects the 16 October data, with update/update2.rpf shown as 277.8 MB in Files. If the game reports a mismatch, remove GTAV_patch and send the Logs folder to support. Do not keep applying a patch to mismatched data.
Why do I need movies.zip?
The movies folder enables TVs, the Lifeinvader presentation, and screens in cutscenes. Unzip movies.zip (84 MB) in Files and move its movies folder into GTA V › GTAV. Follow the matching download’s README. Review the one-time setup
Can I import a save from a PC or another device?
Yes. From the launcher, choose Data › Import Save and select an SGTA5… file and a slot. The 22 October notes say a replaced save is kept in Replaced saves. Back up important saves before importing. Read about save imports
Controls & launcher
04Can I customize touch controls?
Yes. Choose Launcher › Settings › HUD & Controls › Edit, or use Edit controls in the pause menu. Layouts change with the game context. The 21 October release added layout sharing and importing. View touch-control updates
Can I use a controller, keyboard, or mouse?
The 25 October notes include controller navigation in the launcher and trainer, plus PC-style keyboard and mouse controls on iPhone and iPad. Touch controls hide during keyboard and mouse use; tap the screen to bring them back. New input behavior still needs feedback. Read the input notes
Where are vertical mode and cutscene options?
Open Launcher › HUD & Controls. Vertical Mode offers Full Screen and Dual Screen layouts in the 24 October release. The launcher also includes Cutscene Black Bars and Cutscene Depth of Field options in the relevant builds. Explore launcher changes
Does the Mods tab mean mods are fully supported?
No. The 24 October release describes the Mods tab as a preview that lists files in GTA V › GTAV › mods. Functional mod support is planned for a later release. Check newer release notes before installing mods.
Troubleshooting
04What should I send when reporting a crash or freeze?
Send the whole GTA V › Logs folder, including crash-*.txt, run.log, and run.prev.log when available. Include the build date, device, iOS version, and what you were doing. Mac logs are in ~/Library/Logs/GTA5. Ask for help on Discord
What should I try on a low-memory device?
Start with Battery Saver and review the memory available to the signed app. The 21 October build adjusts settings to the memory iOS grants, rather than physical RAM alone. Optional iRAM+ guidance is available for eligible Apple-account-signed apps. It does not add physical RAM or guarantee stability. Read the memory guidance
Can I expect the FPS shown in community screenshots?
No fixed frame rate is guaranteed. Performance changes with the chip, settings, signing-related memory limits, and thermal conditions. The engineering notes describe different results at different development stages and workloads. Read the performance context
Why is the game limited to 30 FPS?
The 18 October notes explain that Windowed with VSync Half capped the game at 30 FPS, and changed the defaults to Fullscreen and VSync Off. Later builds add limiter options for higher-refresh screens. Check your launcher settings and build notes; a higher limit does not guarantee the matching FPS. Review display-setting changes
Community & privacy
04Where does community support happen?
Discord is the main place for project discussion, download instructions, and support. Use the invite linked on this website. The Community page shows approximate member and online counts when Discord makes them available. Visit the community page
Who develops the launcher?
The launcher developer is XDE on Discord. Rockstar Games receives credit for the original game. See the homepage credits for the project and platform acknowledgements. View credits
What does Subscribe do on this website?
It saves your interest in project updates on this device when optional preferences are enabled. Otherwise it lasts for the current page visit. It does not subscribe you to email, push notifications, or a third-party channel.
Can I change my cookie and storage preferences?
Yes. Open Cookie settings in the footer to accept optional preferences or keep essential storage only. Withdrawing optional consent removes saved update interest.
