GPU efficiency and mission fixes
Memory compression restored, corrected MetalFX output resolution, and a new 40 FPS limit.
Performance
- Less GPU work per frame: GPU memory compression, disabled during an earlier test, is enabled again. According to the release notes, an iPhone 13 Pro used about a sixth less GPU work per frame, with uncapped performance increasing from approximately 43 to 52 FPS. A 30 or 40 FPS cap should have more headroom and may run cooler.
- MetalFX: upscales to the screen’s actual resolution instead of beyond it, reducing GPU work and some memory use.
- 40 FPS frame limit: a new option between 30 and 45 FPS, smoothest on 120 Hz screens.
Fixes
- The Merryweather Heist: fixes a black screen or frozen camera after the freighter explodes on 4 GB devices.
- By the Book: tooth pulling now works with touch. The right stick also appears under the left thumb, with a new Auto rotate button.
- Leftover debug logging removed.
